This building was mostly constructed to have views on the ocean.
The project is following the same path as an existing wall on the site.
The building was started by disposing a limestone wall at the top of the site. When visitors come to the hotel, this will be the first glance, they will have of it. The only big opening on this wall leads to the reception (there is an exterior parking next to it for the people who check in or out). All the functions are at this floor, disposed in boxes. The space in between those boxes is the public space for the visitors (restaurant, lounge, bar...) In the same box as the reception services is disposed the vertical circulation (stairs and 3 lifts). From those stairs, there is at each level a different view of the ocean. There is also a roof opening at the top of the stairs to let the light sculpt the concrete walls and stairs from the top to the bottom of this circulation.
Between each 2 rooms, there is an in between space to gain access to the room and also rhythm the corridor with a constant changing view of the ocean.
Each room is oriented toward the ocean, from the bathtub to the bed. There, you will be able to enjoy a unique beautiful sunset. There is also a private terrace for each room along bushes to preserve the guest’s intimacy, also regulate the climate of the rooms. It also participates to integrate the building in the landscape. In the direction of Porto, there is a big staircase that can be used by the visitors to gain access to the ocean.
On one side, the building is stopped by this big stair case. On the other side, because of the growing relief, the building is slowly fading. The public building, the rooms, the terrace, the swimming pool and finally the wall, from which the building was started.
Le projet se situe à Porto, Portugal. Le sujet était de réaliser un hotel de luxe sur un site de tiers paysage situé en périphérie de Porto. Le site est en cours d’urbanisation pour permettre la réalisation de logement et de services. Depuis ce site, situé au Sud de Porto et de l’embouchure du Douro, on a une vue à 270 degré sur l’océan, le Douro et Porto.
Mon travail a d’abord été axé sur les vues sur le paysage : quand le montrer, quand le cacher. J’ai tenté de faire un travail cinématographique sur les vues et la lumière. Le projet suit la même direction qu’un mur de soutainement déjà présent sur le site.
Le batiment a commencé par la disposition d’un mur de calcaire dans la partie supérieure du site. Lorsque les visiteurs viendront à l’hôtel, ce sera le premier coup d’œil qu’ils auront. La seule grande ouverture sur ce mur mène à la réception. Toutes les fonctions sont à cet étage, disposés dans des boîtes. L’espace entre ces boîtes est l’espace public pour les visiteurs (restaurant, salon, bar ...). Dans la même boîte que l’accueil est disposé la circulation verticale (un escalier et 3 ascenseurs). De ces escaliers, il y a à chaque étage un point de vue différent sur l’océan. De plus, il y a une ouverture de toit au-dessus de l’escalier pour laisser la lumière sculpter le mur de béton et les escaliers du haut vers le bas de cette circulation.
Entre chaque groupe de 2 chambres, il y a un espace pour accéder à la chambre. Ceci permet aussi de rythmer couloir avec des vues sur l’océan en perpétuel mouvement. Les chambres de l’hôtel (10 suites et 70 chambres) sont toutes entièrement orientées sur le paysage, du lit jusqu’à la baignoire, le visiteur pourra profiter d’une vue imprenable sur l’océan avec de magnifiques couchés de soleil. Il y a une terrasse privée pour chaque chambre, ainsi que des plantes afin de préserver l’intimité des invités, et participer à la régulation du climat des chambres et à l’intégration du bâtiment dans le paysage. Dans la direction de Porto, il y a un grand escalier qui peut être utilisé par les visiteurs afin d’accèder à l’océan. D’un côté, le bâtiment est arrêté par ce grand escalier. De l’autre côté, le batiment s’estompe progressivement dans le paysage jusqu’à en disparaitre.
